The Policies

Studio Policies 2017-2018

  • A piano or touch-sensitive keyboard is required at home
  • Please arrive for class five minutes early to allow time for copying homework and settling in.  Classes will begin promptly
  • Please do not bring food, drink, or gum into the studio
  • My studio is a scent free zone, please do not wear any perfumes or colognes to the lesson
  • Please do not bring other children to the lesson. Please make other arrangements so that you may enjoy this special time with your child
  • Attendance is very important! If you must miss a class, call or email me for the homework. If the regularly attending parent or guardian cannot come to a class, it is best, whenever possible, to send your child with a substitute rather than have your child miss his or her class. Regular attendance will enhance your child’s success.
  • If a class must be missed it is the parent’s responsibility to call the teacher for the homework
  • If a class is cancelled due to weather, homework will be given to you by email or phone.  If a class is cancelled due to my illness or other personal reasons, homework will be given to you and that class fee refunded.  However, I cannot be responsible for lessons that a student misses due to illness, school concerts, sports, trips, vacations, etc.
  • Parent participation is essential both in class and at home. Please be as attentive as you would expect your child to be. You can visit with other parents after class.
  • Try not to repeat my instructions to your child.  When this happens, inevitably the child will begin listening for your instructions and not mine.  I realize this takes practice, but practice makes perfect!
  • Please do not come to class if your child is contagious or was kept home from school. There are many children that use the music studio and would appreciate it kept as germ free as possible.
  • Payment is by post-dated cheque or e-transfer. All payment is due at the first lesson.
  • Registration fee is required to reserve your child’s space in class
  • Classes will begin September 10, 2017
  • By sending payment you agree to these policies


  • There will be 34 lessons + 1 recital in the 2017-2018 year that runs from September to June
  • The first cheque will include the first and last months’ payment and should, therefore, be made out for $175.00.  This cheque is non-refundable.
  • Please Note:  I will NOT accept payment by the lesson.  This takes away valuable time from lessons and causes undue accounting problems.
  • All Post-dated cheques/e-transfer are due the first lesson
  • Refunds and makeup classes are not given for missed classes, as your class continues as planned.
  • If, for any reason, you find it necessary to withdraw your child from the program, you will forfeit your last month’s payment.  The cancellation fee is included in your first cheque. However, you will be refunded for the other remaining full months.  The cancellation fee is necessary as this is a structured, sequential program and students cannot be replaced once the program has begun.
